D2 Final Critique
D2 people...
You all did a great job with your final projects! I think we made some graphic designers this semester!
For those of you that participated in the online critique, I will posting those grades soon and updating your overall grades. I gave credit for meaningful, criticism only and did not give credit for simply giving congratulations etc.

Done!
Well, I'm pretty sure I'm done commenting on everyone's final project, but if I missed anyone's, let me know. Also, I hope I didn't hurt anyone's feelings in my critiquing. If I did, I didn't mean to! :) Anyway, I hope everyone has a great summer and I'll see you guys later!!

Harvard Baseball Players - Call Me Maybe?
Personally I find this song very annoying however when I saw this video it made me laugh.
D1. Passage of Time. Franklyn
A video of the Stages of and the Life of my room and all its awesomeness
D2 I guess I wasn't clear enough
If you want credit for the 50 pts you need to post insiteful (not simply a pat on the ole back) criticism DIRECTLY to your peers' blogs. Don't post comments on this blog.
D1~Erica~ Passage of Time, My Garden
I had a lot of fun creating this movie and hope everyone enjoys~ A couple people I especially want to thank are: my friend, Elena, for her help with the camera and use of a truck on tilling day. My wonderful boyfriend Joshua, who has helped in the garden countless times and created the first song on the movie which is fittingly titled Self-Sufficient Isn't Your Middle Name (but it should be) ~He has more music on Facebook: http://www.facebook.com/3Minus ~ And my son Stryder, who steals the show. Even though, a couple times, I had to bride and/or threaten him to do it.
Like the title to the first song suggest I feel more people should try and strive to be more self-reliant~ hope this inspires some to try. Enjoy!
D2 Final
You should begin by creating an ambitious, comprehensive, fictional corporate scenario. That means things like the following must be established first.
Company name
company product(s) or services: Several paragraphs of description
store locations (where and how many, be specific and logical)
target customer (who, where, what age group(s), why)
corporate identity (style sheet, logos for various purposes, fonts, colors, etc.)
Company motto or slogan
Next, create all of the following items for the above scenario
1. logos (full color, grayscale, and black and white) These are all different and changing the mode doesn't cut it. They all must be designed.
2. commercial signage design (external and billboard) Design in Illustrator and implement in Photoshop.
3. package designs (several that serve the needs of your company)
4. web page (this can be static; meaning it can be an illustrator file and it doesn't need to work)
5. storefront design (find a photo of a similar building type and photoshop your signage onto it. you should also make other necessary changes. you can also use illustrator to create an artist's rendering of the building)
6. 30 second commercial using video for TV
7. other items that relate to your business (window clings, tray liners, dispensers, kiosk display, end cap display, menu, delivery vehicle, etc.
You should have more than 7 items.
Be creative, ambitious, and challenge yourself to step outside of your comfort zone.
Please send me your ideas before you get started
Make sure to include all of the descriptive info at the top so that your projects make sense. Then post a link to it on our normal blog.
All of this will be due at the Final Exam meeting.
You will be graded on the following:
creativity
ambitiousness
craftsmanship
having correct number of ambitious items produced (this will vary slightly depending on your subject) and on time completion
This will be worth approximately 25% of your final grade.

D1-Passage of time-Christian
Passage of time
This is my passage of time project, I took photos at my church, Trinity Baptist. I took the photos, showing the growth of the crowd as service was about to start. I did this every Sunday, showing a different stage set up every time, and showing special programs that took place.

Game 3 intro
Sorry OKC Thunder, but the "action painting" intro on Fox Sports Oklahoma was not cool! These pretentious performance painters that make videos of themselves making crap with oversized brushes in 5 minutes are not artists, they are exhibitionists that give real artists a very bad name because 99% of people watching think that what these clowns do IS great fine art.
Real painters do not use both their left and right hands David Garibaldi.
If your work requires that the process be videotaped there is a problem. It means the video is better than the work itself and that's why it's being taped.
D1. Final Project
this one is what I hope for my summer to be like, nice, cool relaxing and having time to draw and be artistic.
this is what I wish my summer would be like, calm and relaxed, yet I have a bad feeling that it will just be a lot of hard work
D1 Final Project Sara
First one is a general idea of summer, shade trees, reading outdoors, picnics and volleyball. I used an American Flag to represent the all the patriotic holidays that are in the summer.
My second one I went for the things I am leaving behind. The words all came from signs around campus.
D1 Final Project
Thinking about doing something else other then being at work during the summer.
I put the dog running with chance because I take my dog walking all summer long.
D1 passage of time by that there salvador
THE DOWNSIDE WAS THAT THE CANDLES CONSTANTLY EVAPORATED INSTEAD OF MELTING DOWN SO IT PISSED ME OFF
Final Project-Teresa
Ok, so this is what I want to be doing this summer, be on vacation and naked at the beach! Well I know I'll be on the beach the naked thing is wishful thinking ;D. I spy a sandy boob!
And I also want to be knee deep in Art books that's on my Amazon wish list I hope to purchase in the next few weeks and also do this naked ;D

It's sexy time
This image is of my relaxing summer time fun~ filled with pool time, nature and yes, sex! lol
It's business time
Summer won't be all relaxing ~ I have summer courses, Painting II and Intro to Graphic and lots weeding/gardening to do. But those are things that are also fun for me, so it won't be all bad.
D1 curtis andrew baldinger one day assingment your name
For these assignments i took two different approaches. On top photo i created a summer scene with mostly photos i took on campus except the boat and jet ski of course. My thought was that me like many other people go boating and or jet skiing on the lake. For the second one i did more of a collage with some imigary representing the weather of the season like the a flower some sunshine and rain on the left side of the image. I also put a chili pepper in there because with no class i will be working a whole lot more.
D1-Class Period Assignment-Christian
Summer Break
This portrays the image of how I will spend my free time in the summer, from drawing in my sketchpad, to riding my bike. |
This describes my working situation, I will be working at Wrangler during the summer, so I will deal with a lot of cardboard boxes and pallets over the summer, but I will bring in the money. |
D1- Class Assignment Project- Charlsey F.
D1- Class Assignment Project
For both images I tried to make them more scrapbook-like, as if they were pages out of a scrap book for the summertime. And added a lot of image adjustments to the colors and added some lines for some more decor and effect.

This one is some people hanging out at a pool. I could only do 1 of 2 images. I know this one needs work. I was in a hurry.
As for the second image, I was going to do some sort of beach setting but I ran out of time cause I had to leave class early to pick up my kids. Sorry.
D2 Passage of Life: A Zombie Tale by Jami Turner

pscs5 passage of time question...
i'm doing everything step by step like I'm suppose to.. number sequences, etc.. and its saying i have a gap and therefore when it makes my video its only showing my first photo for 7 seconds.. :/ anyone else havin that problem? and if so did you figure out how to fix it?
D1 Passage of Time Sara
Due to rarely being home I spent 12 hours in one day following a shadow. I wish it was not as shaky as it is, next time I should have a tripod but did not have the funds this semester. Despite that I really liked my idea for the project. Enjoy :)
Passage of time: Dying Roses
I did two videos of the roses dying and I also did a video out of my window, just to see how the days change and the weather.

how to make your passage of time video
This is sort of a tutorial, but I apologize that I am not using pictures. This computer has CS4 and my instructions are for CS5. And in this case, using pictures from CS4 will not work because it lacks one VERY important feature that CS5 does have.
1. put all of your photos into a single folder
2. make sure that they are titled sequentially and in the correct order.
3. open PS CS5
4. go to FILE, OPEN and locate that folder
5. now click on the FIRST image in your sequence
6. check the IMAGE SEQUENCE box before clicking OPEN
7. Click OPEN (it will only open the single image that you selected. this is correct)
8. FILE, EXPORT, RENDER, VIDEO
9. this will open a series of windows for video settings
10. you should be okay with the default settings
11. EXPORT
12. now publish to youtube and then embed the video onto the class blog (don't simply put a link) It may take up to an hour for your video's title to appear in the youtube search tool on the blog
If you don't have a youtube account already your blog username and password should let you in and allow you to publish video.

D1 - Open Series - Raechel Bible
I decided to do my open series over stereotypes & how those stereotypes affect how people perceive others. I also used images of well known people to show how wrong the stereotypes can be.
The bodies in the photo belong to Jay-Z & Beyonce, but the faces belong to Barack & Michelle Obama. I think Barack & Michelle Obama are a good example of what some African Americans are like. The stereotype being that all African Americans are "thugs".
Stereotype: All Indians own/work at 7-11 or drive a taxi cab. Also more than that is that all Indians worship cows & are Muslim. I used Aziz Ansari in this image Because he is a good example of why this stereotype is wrong. Aziz Ansari is of Indian descent but he is from South Carolina. Also he is not a Muslim, he is an Atheist.
Stereotype: Everyone from the south is white trash or a redneck and a racist. I come from a town where people put rebel flags on their vehicles & use them as window curtain, but don't have a clue as to what it symbolizes. Which is ignorant. (like people who believe stereotypes) I used quite a few celebrities in this image to show that white trash can come from anywhere not just the south. Amy Winehouse is from London but she was one of the trashiest people I have ever seen. Kid Rock is from Michigan but again very trashy. I do recognize there is white trash in the southern states so I put Britney Spears (Louisiana) & Miley Cyrus (Tennessee). The others in the image are just more of what you would picture as white trash. A man showing off his large gut and a dirty little kid.

The stereotype for this image is that all nail salons are run by Asians. Not only that but I notice more & more that people will assume that someone is Chinese if they look like that are from Asian descent when they are actually from somewhere else. I think it's rude & i'm sure those people do too.
