Open your image in Ps. Double click the image layer to make it a normal layer.
Next desaturate the image by going to image: adjustments: desaturate
Now make a copy of the layer by dragging the 1st layer to the new layer option below.
now click on the layer copy and go to image: adjustments: invert.
Select color dodge from the blending options drop down menu.
next go to filter: other: minimum and adjust the image to how dark you want the lines to look.
Click on filter: blur: gaussin blur and adjust as necessary.

That is really great. I like the way the sky turned out too. Could use this technique to get better sky on an old B&W photo you are fixing, not just to get the main subject.
