Craigslist Gem

i spent way too much time on this stupid thing

this can also double as an extra tutorial right?

D1~Erica~Tutorial #4 Removing Background around Fine Hair

So taking hair away from a background and making it look decent is difficult and there are lots of ways to approach it.  Here is one way to do it with a plain background using masks.

Get ur photo and using the quick selection tool select most of the image

Deselect parts that you don't want by using the alt button
So here we are ~ Open your mask window

and then the Mask Edge button

Here you can view the pic diff. ways, Black and White, to me shows what is and is not selected the best

After selecting the black/white view click off to accept and then go to edge detection ~here is where the magic happens!  Move the marker up to widen the radius around the selection
smart radius can help sometimes~ for this I haven't used it.

Here I have the selection at about 64  and we now see more of the hair.  Getting better but lets make it bester.  The Refine Radius Tool will allow you to select more hair.
To view what hairs need to be selected
On Views click the Reveal Layers setting

Now using the Refine Radius Tool Select the fly away hairs

Click back to the Black and White View to show the difference you have now made

And here is the final product, ready to be super imposed onto any background of your choosing

Whaa laaaa!

D1 open series

With this series I went a personal direction, the subject matter are things that I can relate to. Mostly its about time and the decisions we make and how they lead us to the lifestyles that we never thought we would be a part of. How violence and addiction run hand in hand and destroy the lives of your loved ones ! however in the end its your choice ! Enjoy

D1 Open Series Sara

When I started learning about art history I was confused by what is considered art versus what is considered craft. It was explained to me that if something is made to be used than it is not art but if it is for decoration, if it was created just because someone wanted to than it is art. This does make some sense but I see a very fine line between art and craft at times. I do enjoy crafting so this might be the reason I am willing to consider some things art that others do not but either way I decided to combine the two. So for my open series I did "Craft Turned Fine Art" where I make a digital collage with a different craft for each theme. The base of each collage are quilt patterns.

Photography

Knitting

Weaving

Sewing

Cooking     not quite as craft like as others but often those who are all craftsy like cooking it can be very creating... compositionally I was very proud if it.

And finally I had more time but could not think of a good craft idea that had enough photos for so I decided to make a new photography one. Mostly that one because while I like the way the cameras turned out the overall image is very bright and it was my first so I was not really playing with filters that much. Soo Photography 2... the quilt pattern was the most complicated but with the filters is harder to see it. Without the filters the image was very vibrant, I liked it a lot but the camera's did not stand out enough so I had to tone it down.

I really think cooking is my favorite. The overlaying image pops without the color being lost in the underlaying collage. And the contrast on the mixer created one of the clearest of the stamps.

D1-Open Series-Teresa-For Sale By Owner

I know so many families who are adopting, which of course I think is wonderful. So for my open series I wanted to take it into a different direction and go a little darker, also I wanted to try something different.

This picture represents pregnant women on a conveyer belt, being mass produced to sell their unwanted babies. The tunnel represents the birth canal and therefore that is why I gave it a fleshy tone. I didn't put heads on these bodies, because these women hide their identities.

This picture represents how you can easily go and select a child of your choosing. I purposely made this hard to see so it would appear like you are looking through a vail. It's hard to look at, but you can't help but continue to look.

This is my take on the blackmarket. These babies are being sold for profit, hence the woman with her back turned and walking away with money. The men are going through selecting the best ones to sell. The woman also represents how we walk away from these dark topics and just turn our backs to things that make us uncomfortable and frankly can't stop.

I used chicken eggs to represent the mass production of babies. I included some fertile, rotten and eggs at the beginning stages of fertilization. I gave these eggs a glowing feel because with all of the hormones injected into women and their eggs, seems toxic.

Ok so I know this one isn't great, but I wanted to give this a static feel and show how babies can be bought like everyday commodities. In the black lettering these are all name brand items, which in turn represents the type of person who can "purchase" a baby.

D1 Open Series

Spongebob in our world!
I chose to do my open series over spongebob and friends. I have been watching the show since it first came out and have been a fan ever since. I enjoy spongebob so I thought I would do it for my open series.
