D1. Tutorial Lightning Effect

*Speaking in a British Accent*
Step 1:  Start off with a dark background so that the lightning will be more visible.
Step 2: Using the paint brush soft point at a very small and fine point with 100%  opacity, line out where you want the lightning to be. Obviously for the lighting to look right you will want to use a color that is very near to white.
Step 3: Increase the size of the paint brush and lower the opacity a little bit and  brush over the outline for the lightning with a single stroke. For this tutorial I took it down by 20.
Step 4: Again Increase the size of the paint brush some more and lower the opacity some more and repeat Step 3. Repeat these steps increasing the size and lowering the opacity of the paint brush by about the same amount each time until you reach around 10% opacity.
The result should end up looking similar to this.

Also if you want to change the color of the lightning, it is easiest to flatten all the layers except for the background,  then you can go to color and hue adjustments to alter the color and how bright it looks
