How to edit a picture using illustrator

I started off making a colored background and then bringing in the picture that I wanted to edit.

I also made a copy of that picture because editing this picture will break every piece down individually.
















After clicking on the picture click on Live Trace at the top of the page then click Live Paint.

















It puts all these little dots on the the image that allow you to move it around as you see fit. Down side is that it sets each individual piece as its own mass. After selecting the piece that you don't want ( say that annoying white background) just hit the delete button.





























Once you get everything that you want to keep replaced then your done. Enjoy.

This really beats editing in photoshop before importing to Illustrator. Several steps are eliminated. good work
