6 Simple yet Effective Steps to Enhance your Image with Light

Creating a Focal Point using Light/Soft Brushes:
1.) First open your chosen image in Photoshop.

2.) Duplicate layer and set the blending mode to "Overlay".

3.) Now create a new solid color adjustment layer set to a dark gray (e.g. #565656.)

These Steps are to enhanced the colors some, and helps make a nice base for the lighting effect.

4.) Next we're going to add some shadow with a single gradient adjustment layer with these settings: 
5.) Now to add lights. Select a soft brush and paint on a new layer above all other layers with the blending mode set to "Soft Light".
6.) Now for the intensity, create another new layer with the same soft white brush, but set the blending mode to "Overlay".
This simple method can be used in a number of creative ways to enhance any image of your choice, and may just prove to be very useful and sufficient for you.
