D1 Open Series, Candace Sweatt

I really enjoy colors and patterns and the idea of a central figure garnering most of the attention. I based my themes on colors, mainly, with the patterns being secondary. I retrieved the patterns and the ladies off the internet and did the rest with photoshop.

I love the way you used the shapes to emphasize the poses.

I like how you labeled each color. Who would have known that purple would be violet? :) But seriously I do like that you added that. It adds to it and divides up the space nicely. I especially like the last one. It has sort of a third dimension added to it because you left the white. Good Job!

I think a few of the compositions are strong, but I wish the theme was more impact-full.

I like how clear and clean the Orange and Blue ones are. The fuzziness of the others bugs me a little bit.

I really like the purple, looks like it is a print on fabric. The blue is nice because of the pose of the girl against the bold black diagonal stripes.

I think the idea was well executed for sure. It reminds me of a scrapbook for some reason... Very strange that the green one is the only one that the words are not the same color on, I like it!

Candace, this reminds me of your style in Drawing II with your monotypes. You definitely have a "style." And I like it. You chose colors for your series that give an impression on their own as single pieces and another feel when combined. Very nice. Pamela

I really like all the different names for colors you put in, and how they make sense with the poses
